Departure day! As I sat down to write this blog, my mother yells from the other room, “Here’s your proper send off: We love you and we will miss you! And here’s a great tribute for your sendoff!” WIth a giggle and a grin, she proceeds to blast Alan Jackson’s song “Drive”. (For those who don’t know, making me listen to AJ is like making me sit and watch someone continually scrape their fingernails on the chalkboard. Torturous, painful and annoying. Apple doesn’t fall too far, huh? Haha)
I would like to ask you in joining me in what I would suppose a proper sendoff would be. Please pray this prayer with me 🙂
Lord,
Thank you for providing this opportunity, the funds, the support and encouragement.
Most of all, thank you for placing in us the desire and passion to GO.
Guide us with safe and smooth travels today and throughout the trip.
Help us remember that we are not capable; only through You do we have the strength.
Give us the courage and faith to follow and trust in Your plans.
Let us speak Your words and walk in Your footsteps, not only for the benefit of those we are ministering to, but for ourselves as well.
Be with the missionaries on site in Uganda, and let us be a blessing to them.
Bless the relationships between our team members and all people we come in contact with.
Provide us with good health, and help us to know that our mental, physical and emotional strength all come from You.
Let this experience change and mold us into what you desire us to be; we pray the same goes for those we interact with and those we may not even know are watching.
We praise and thank You for forgiveness, mercy and unconditional love.
We can never thank You enough for giving us Your one and only Son.
We love you now and forever.
