January 5th. 7:40 pm. Chicago. I’ve been repeatedly saying that for quite some time now, and rumor has it, that’s tomorrow…
Can’t believe the time has really come. Thanks to many helpers, my bags are (mostly) packed, with just a few pounds to spare to throw in a couple last minute cheeseburgers and pizzas on my way out!

This time and change in my life has brought about so many roller coasters of thoughts and emotions. It’s hard to pin everything down into words, but love seems to be a common thread through it all. In a desperate and broken world, love is all you need (credit: some old band that was around WAY before my time). But more importantly, the Bible also tells us this is true: “We love because He first loved us.” 1 John 4:19

We are born to love and be loved. I have always been blessed by an abundance of people to love and people who love me. Thank you to all who came to my party, as well as those who were there in spirit! I was overwhelmed by love and appreciation. I don’t know how to begin to express my gratefulness to all who are a part of my life, so I’ll just leave it at thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for filling up my heart with love, because “…the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.” Luke 6:45. Only because of God and all of you, do I have the capacity to give these Ugandan people and children what they so desperately need: love.

Prayer Requests:
– Safe travels for me and for the missionaries (with whom I will be meeting up with in Dubai to fly into Uganda together).
– Health, rest and speedy recovery (I seemed to have picked up a cold I can’t shake. So really, I guess you should pray for those poor people next to me on the plane who will be captive to my germs, coughing, and sneezing!)
–  My family (not only is this a life-changing experience for me, but a lot for them to cope with too)
