Rhena’s Remarks

A year ago, I convinced Kelsey to sign up for ICOM, an international missionary convention in Indianapolis, IN that would take place in November of 2020.  Now a year later and a year of COVID, Kelsey and Erick couldn’t attend.  I have been blessed to represent Ageno and wanted to share.

The convention was small and traffic was light.  This was unusual for ICOM but missionaries could not attend because of lockdown in their countries.  I was not going to be discouraged.  I prayed for at least 1 good contact.  I did make 1 good contact; a lady that wants to help Erick with raising his animals.  At first I said God that is not what I prayed for but it was.  I prayed for one good contact.  That evening the missionary that spoke talked about prayer.  He talked about his time as a missionary.  He had a large congregation in Africa but only women and children attended.  He prayed for one man to attend church the next Sunday.  God answered that prayer with one man, one very old man who needed to be fed and clothed.  He told God that isn’t what he had prayed for.  God had other plans and that man’s grandson eventually became the minister of that church.  Why is it that we pray vague prayers and expect God to answer our prayer very specifically?

Can I say I am excited?!  This lady had so much energy and stopped by the booth multiple times.  Where will God take this?  I don’t even want to guess because I know He has plans and dreams I have not even thought of yet.

This opportunity gave me the chance to pray with missionaries that were discouraged and needed prayer and encouragement.  I met people that loved the Lord and wanted to purchase items to support Ageno, Inc.  They were interested in the mission.  I virtually talked to missionaries in Nepal and shared ideas.  I shared the Ageno mission and passed out information.

I spent close to 20 hours seeing God at work.  This season of COVID has caused many of us to become discouraged but this convention was the lift I needed to see God’s mighty hand at work all over the world.  Naham 1:3b says, “The billowing clouds are the dust beneath his feet.”  What we see as dark clouds are God’s feet at work.  I definitely saw Him at work over the weekend.

I can’t close without asking you to join His work in Uganda with Kelsey.  COVID has hit around the world.  Kelsey and the READ for Life team are learning to teach via the radio.  This means buying airtime that was not in the original 2020 budget.  She was not able to come back and raise support this year like she had planned.  Money is tight in her life just as it is in yours.  If you feel led and have the resources, Kelsey needs your support.  She also needs your prayers.  Uganda is in lockdown just as it is here.  People are tired of being locked inside.  What can you do?

  1.  Pray!  Pray for the people, the resources to continue the radio programs, and Kelsey & Erick’s health as they continue in lockdown with COVID.
  2. Share the Ageno mission, “Striving to make the hope of Jesus known to all people in the community by expanding knowledge and opportunity through education, equipment and empowerment”.
  3. Pray for the reach of the radio programs that are replacing classroom education.

Thanks, Kelsey, for letting me share.  I am so excited to be a supporter of Ageno, Inc.  This mission is helping so many.  I pray each of you are seeing God at work during this long season.

Blessings,

Rhena Crane
